About This Episode:

Riggs Eckelberry doesn’t look like a bomb-thrower. And yet, he’s driving the disruption of a trillion-dollar industry that has fallen behind the times and is affecting the health of millions.
That industry is Big Water. Simply, those billion-dollar centralized water systems aren’t coping with demand, and water quality is getting worse.

The answer? Instant InfrastructureTM. Businesses are doing their own water treatment, using modular, prefabricated systems that are trucked right on site. They get better water quality, lower rates through recycling, and even improved environmental grades!
Ten years after launching public company OriginClear, Riggs and his
team are offering those truck-in-place modular systems in the USA,
while licensees are building products internationally using OriginClear’s low-energy, chemical-free innovation.

Riggs Eckelberry is uniquely qualified to ride the huge wave of do-it-
yourself water treatment that is transforming an industry, having

learned management in the nonprofit space, captained oceangoing
ships, and achieved several tech successes during the dot-com boom.

A lot of incredible things have happened in Create Your Own Life World this week! It was my daughter's first birthday; I'm so shocked that she's already one!

Also, my company, Command Your Brand Media is going to be sponsoring Curt Mercadante's Freedom Club Festival. In addition, I will be the emcee for the event. If you're in Charleston, SC, I hope to see you come out.

The reflection that I had this week is the idea that success is not a place that you arrive to, but rather, it's a way of being. We discuss that in this week's Freestyle Friday episode!

About This Episode:

After 12 seasons playing Major League Baseball, Brett Myers retired to his Florida hometown to be with his family.

He won the World Series in 2008 with the Phillies in addition to spending time with the Astros and the White Sox.

What baseball fans didn't realize, is for years Myers had been playing guitar and writing songs in the off-season.

From the time he was a young boy, Myers always had a love for country, classic and hard rock. However, with his rigorous baseball schedule, he never had a chance to pursue songwriting in a serious manner.

One day while playing golf, he shared some ideas with his musician friend and producer Damien Starkey (Puddle of Mudd, Burn Season), who was blown away by his clever concepts. The two began collaborating and crafting songs in Starkey's studio. Before long, it was undeniable that they had a great chemistry and the songs to prove it. Since then, Brett has collaborated with several heavy hitters in the industry including Colt Ford, The LACS and Bottleneck.

In September of 2017 Brett released his 3rd album “Home Brewed”, a perfect blend of Southern Rock and Country anthems about drinking and life in the south. Myers has also been taking his show on the road with his band “The Backwoods Rebels.” This lineup includes former Shinedown and Fuel guitarist Jasin Todd, Puddle of Mudd guitarist and bassist Adam Latiff and Damien Starkey, Dylan Hess on drums and Zac Gilbert on slide.

With the great response that the shows and albums have received, it is apparent that Myers continues to grow his fan base in both the Country and Southern Rock markets.

About This Episode:
This week I was very excited to get a chance to meet my favorite professional athlete. It was a very cool experience, but I had higher aspirations.

My hope was that I would get to interview this person, but it didn't work out this time. Yes, I told a lot of people how excited I was for the interview, but instead, I learned a valuable lesson: Disappointment will happen.

It's how you respond and handling yourself with grace when it does happen that will show yourself and others who you really are.

About This Episode:

I by no means consider myself a digital nomad, we have an office and a great staff, but I believe that traveling increases your worldview and is incredible for personal development.

I've learned a few things:

  • Look on Groupon or Living Social (They're the same company now, pick one)
  • Get an airline miles credit card; Capital One Venture Card is pretty good from what I've heard
  • Check out Travel Zoo; only sign up for their top 20 email list otherwise you'll get spammed
  • Book closer to travel to get better rates
  • Use sites like Orbitz for last-minute deals, but do your first search in an incognito window because they'll cookie you and the price will go up
  • Download Google maps for the cities you're going to on WiFi; they'll work on airplane mode (including the GPS, which is EPIC).
  • Use public transportation (Trains ROCK), many cities sell a 48 hour or 7-day pass for unlimited public transportation
  • Avoid taxis, they can be expensive or untrustworthy, use Uber where available.
  • Eat off the beaten path, it won't be what the people really eat and will be 5x as expensive; stay in residential areas.
  • If you are confused and need help, walk into the largest name brand hotel, collect yourself, act like you're staying there and ask for help.
  • Travel in the offseason; it's cheaper
  • Visit sites on a weekday

About This Episode:

We're back to our regular show format, as you, the listener have spoken and did not like my changes; without you all there is no show, so I'm here to give you what's needed and wanted.

In this short episode, we look at the idea of fear actually being an indicator of the direction that you should go. If it scares you, then it generally means you will have to grow in order to become that person.
