Tyler Basu is a professional Content Marketer, Podcast Host and Digital Magazine Publisher. Like many others before him, Tyler’s journey in business began when he read a book called Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. Driven by his ambition, he spent his early twenties navigating his way through several different industries including financial planning, promoting seminars, direct sales, and selling real estate.

In 2013, Tyler launched his first podcast, Chatting With Champions. In the process of interviewing over 100 successful entrepreneurs for his show, he developed a fascination for online business and digital publishing. By 2015, Tyler had written and published several books on Amazon, including the #1 Amazon Bestseller Lifestyle Business Blueprint.

Tyler left the real estate industry in 2015 to become the Publisher & Editor of Lifestyle Business Magazine, a digital magazine for lifestyle entrepreneurs. Tyler also hosts the Lifestyle Business Magazine Podcast. When he’s not interviewing guests or writing articles for his magazine, he’s busy helping other entrepreneurs and organizations implement content marketing strategies to attract and retain their ideal customers.

Danny Flood is co-founder of OpenWorld, the world’s #1 resource for active lifestyle creators. An entrepreneur since age 9, he went from broke ramen-eating college graduate to growing a profitable online business and pursuing lifestyle design with reckless abandon.

Through his many adventures around the world, he has been robbed, fallen from bridges and motorbikes, hugged exotic animals, and nearly died several times in pursuit of his dreams.

While he could be anywhere, he feels most at home in San Diego, Tokyo, Florianopolis, Buenos Aires, and Penang.

Danny’s Favorite Quote:

“There are many that find a good alibi far more attractive than an achievement, because an achievement does not settle anything permanantly. We still have to prove our worth anew each day, we have to prove we are as good today as we were yesterday, but when we have a valid alibi for not achieving anything, we are fixed so to speak for life.” — Eric Hoffer

He was addicted to drugs. He lost his faith. Finding his faith helped to get him clean but for him it was Hasidim.

He stood out at performances, his dress didn’t match his music. But he sings happy songs of triumph, with a twist almost like Sublime. His name is Matthew Miller but you may know him by his stage name, Matisyahu – popular reggae performer.

He is still close to his faith but doesn’t practice it in the same way, he’s dropped the garb, it was a way to help him find stability again; he’s found himself again and he’s comfortable to be himself.

When Matisyahu first started touring to packed clubs more than eleven years ago, it was prior to the release of Live at Stubbs, the now Gold record, and prior to that record’s single “King without a Crown” reaching #1 on the alternative rock radio charts.  His performances were a raw expression of his spirituality at that time and were supported by musicians who played a foundation of roots reggae augmented by the energy of a rock trio. Fans latched on quickly for a variety of reasons, but in August of 2005, just months after the release of Live at Stubbs, Matisyahu found himself on stage at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival with the de facto leader of improvisational rock-n-roll; Phish’s front man Trey Anastasio.

Many early fans of Matisyahu remember that moment clearly not because of the songs he played in front of the 80,000 person crowd, but because of his seemingly unfettered confidence (or perhaps naiveté) in helping lead Trey and his band through an improvisational display of beat boxing and lyrical gymnastics during the two songs performed.  It may have been unrefined, but Matisyahu’s passion for full band improvisation was laid bare.

You may not know his whole story and how his music is created, but in this episode we dive into all of it.

Matisyahu’s Favorite Quote:

“Listen oh Israel the Lord is our God, the Lord is one.”
